Keeping Girls in School: Menstrual Hygiene Session Empowers Students at Kabundi Secondary School
On September 17th, 2021, a valuable menstrual health hygiene session was held at Kabundi Secondary School in Kasama, Northern Province, Zambia. The session aimed to empower 50 girls with knowledge and resources to manage their periods effectively.
The day proved to be a huge success. Not only were 250 sanitary towels donated to the school, but the girls also participated in a workshop on creating reusable sanitary pads. This valuable skill will equip them with a sustainable and cost-effective way to manage their menstrual hygiene, ensuring they remain comfortable and confident throughout the month.
Ms. Sipula, the Deputy Headmistress, expressed her heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the entire school. She acknowledged the significant impact the donation and workshop will have on the girls' education. By addressing their menstrual health needs, the initiative will help to ensure they can continue their studies uninterrupted.
This session serves as a shining example of how menstrual hygiene awareness and access to resources can empower young women. By equipping them with the knowledge and tools they need, we can create a learning environment where girls feel supported and can thrive.
