Karis Foundation Tackles Period Poverty in Kasama with Sanitary Towel Donation
In a powerful stand against period poverty, the Karis Foundation donated 50 sanitary towels to the Self Confidence campaign on April 24th, 2023. The donation ceremony took place at Radio Mano in Kasama, Zambia, and was received by Ms. Jemiima Nalwamba, the inspiring owner of the campaign.
This generous donation by the Karis Foundation will provide much-needed support to Ms. Nalwamba's vital initiative. The Self Confidence campaign works tirelessly to end period poverty in Kasama, ensuring girls and women have access to sanitary products they need to manage their menstrual cycles with dignity and hygiene.
Menstrual hygiene is a fundamental aspect of women's health and well-being. Yet, due to financial constraints, many women and girls in Zambia lack access to sanitary towels. This can lead to a number of problems, including absenteeism from school and work, and even health complications.
